The Monroe County Conservation District (MCCD), under delegation agreement with the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), administers and enforces portions of Title 25 PA Code, Chapter 105 relating to wetlands and waterways obstructions and encroachments (WO&E). The District is providing this notice to all County property owners who have streams, wetlands or other regulated waters such as ponds or lakes, on or adjacent to their properties.
DEP permits are required for the installation and maintenance of structures such as pipes, bridges, docks, boardwalks, and bank stabilization. Earth disturbance activities, including grading, dredging, or the placement of fill in, along or across, or projecting into regulated waters of this Commonwealth also require DEP authorization.
If you are planning to do any projects in these regulated areas, please contact our office at 570-629-3060 for permit determinations and related information PRIOR TO conducting any work in, along or across the water/wetlands. Watercourse floodways are also regulated and work within 50 feet of streams may require authorization.
If you are proposing any activities in, along or across regulated waters, contact the District office for a permit determination. If you have recently conducted any of the above mentioned activities and did not have a DEP Permit, please contact our office for restoration and resolution options to bring your site into compliance.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. Additional information can be found at the District website www.mcconservation.org under technical services or by calling our office at 570-629-3060.
